Waiting

Scripture:  Genesis 9

 Observation:  Only Noah and his family survived the flood.  While God was slow to anger and slow to judge, his judgement was severe & total!  It is an amazing story, but through the whole account I’m only thinking about how long Noah waited.  He waited while he and his family built this giant boat, by hand.  He waded for forty days on a boat, in a storm, with a zoo on board.  He waited nine months for the water to recess.  And finally he waited those final few days watching for a bird he didn’t want to come back.  Noah waited a long time!  He waited and waited and waited.

Application:  Sometimes God tells us to wait.  Even in ministry, God tells us to wait sometimes.  It is hard to wait on God.  Especially when we realize, in the case of Noah, the real blessing God promised wouldn’t show up for generations.

Prayer:  God help me to wait well!
